During 1814, in the period between the two uprisings, the family of Miloš Obrenović stayed in the Nikolje Monastery under Kablar. The path named after Prince Miloš Obrenović leads from the memorial complex in Gornja Dobrinja to the prince’s residence in the Nikolje Monastery. The entrance to the path is at the gazebo with a fountain in the memorial complex. First, we are led below the peaks of Šiškovica and Godun, where we also leave the territory of the municipality of Požega and enter the village of Gornji Karanci. Then we move along the slopes of the Orovica mountain and the “Šest” peak. Upon arrival in the village of Rošci, we begin the climb to the highest elevation on the route – peak 885 on Kablar. We are also expected to descend to the Nikolje monastery, through the “Čvrkići” and “Ljubičići”.
The trail offers a handful of beautiful views from the gentle slopes of Šiljkovica, Godun and Orovica to the sharp cliffs of Orovica and Kablar. The trail also includes several mountain villages, as well as a memorial complex and the beautiful Nikolje Monastery on the very banks of the Zapadna Morava. Miloš Obrenović built a residence in the port in 1817, which is still named after him. He later donated a mill in Prijevor and some land to the monastery.
The trail is not too technically demanding, but it still requires excellent fitness. The markings are visible, but only from the foot of Orovica, so it is necessary to rely on a .gpx file for this trail.
